Leadership That Listens

I'm Kari Statham. I am running for city council this year. I want to make thoughtful decisions that continue to make Vernon better.

​

Our community faces new challenges every day, and I believe good leadership starts with listening ...hearing from residents, understanding different perspectives, and working together to find solutions that benefit Vernon as a whole.

​

My business experience has taught me that you don’t have to agree on everything to move forward. Collaboration means standing your ground when it matters, compromising when it makes sense, and approaching every conversation with an open mind.

​

We won’t always agree around the council table,  and we don’t need to. What matters is having tough conversations respectfully, finding common ground where we can, and ultimately working toward what is best for our community.

​

Most importantly, we need to listen not just to each other, but to the people of Vernon.

I believe leadership is about education, business sense, financial responsibility, and above all, teamwork. Whether as a mom, a friend, or a leader, I’ve always valued different perspectives and finding a way forward together.

 

That’s the kind of leadership I believe in, and the kind of leadership I want to bring to Vernon.
